Wright Farms Large Meeting RoomHow do colors, patterns and threads tell stories? In this hands-on workshop, you'll explore the bright and beautiful weaving traditions of the Maya in Guatemala.
Then you’ll get to weave your own colorful bookmark, using patterns inspired by these designs. Along the way, grow your creativity, hand skills and imagination while discovering how traditions and identities are developed and shared across generations.
Appropriate for ages 7-12. (Kids ages 5-6 can participate if parents or guardians stay with them). This program can be hosted in English and Spanish. Space and supplies are limited; registration required.

¿Cómo cuentan historias los colores, patrones e hilos? En este taller práctico vas a explorar las hermosas y vistosas tradiciones de tejido de los mayas en Guatemala. Después vas a tejer un colorido marcapáginas, usando los detalles inspirados por estos diseños. Y mientras tanto, expande tu creatividad, habilidades manuales y la imaginación, al tiempo que descubres cómo se desarrollan y comparten la identidad y tradiciones entre generaciones.
Apropiado para edades de 7 a 12 años. (Los niños entre 5 y 6 años pueden participar con el acompañamiento de padres o tutores). Este programa se presentará en inglés y español. Habrá interpretación en español bajo pedido. El espacio y los materiales son limitados; se requiere inscripción.

Anythink Wright Farms is a place where big ideas take root. From The Studio’s cutting-edge makerspace tools to Explore Outdoors’ nature-filled classrooms and cozy reading nooks in its one-acre park, creativity thrives here in every season. This LEED Gold-certified flagship branch welcomes the community to gather, grow, and imagine — both inside its vibrant spaces and in the flourishing pollinator and community gardens just outside its doors.
The Studio at Anythink Wright Farms, a digital creation lab featuring state-of-the-art video, audio and design equipment and software, partners creative community members with teens to help push their creativity to new bounds. Adjacent to the building is a one-acre park made possible by the Wright Farms Metro District that includes outdoor seating, reading nooks and Explore Outdoors, a certified Nature Explore children’s outdoor classroom. Continuing its dedication to sustainability, Anythink Wright Farms is a Gold LEED certified building with many sustainable features, including use of recycled materials, daylight harvesting and ground source heating and cooling.
