Brighton Meeting Room BJoin us for a workshop on a Puerto Rican tradition.
The Vejigante is a masked creature who both fascinates and frightens young children with his mischievous antics, especially during festivals in Ponce and Loiza in Puerto Rico. This workshop explores Puerto Rico’s vibrant and rhythmic festivals, the mixed history of the Vejigante and the country’s relationship to the United States. In this program, we will create the horned mask of the mysterious and charismatic Vejigante as they listen to the sounds of Bomba music and learn about cultural blending. Appropriate for tweens and teens ages 12-17. Registration required. Please visit our online calendar to register.

In the heart of downtown Brighton, Anythink Brighton blends bold design with a deep commitment to sustainability as the nation’s first carbon-negative library. Opened in 2009, this LEED Gold-certified library branch marked a new chapter in the Anythink story as the first Anythink library. More recently, it found its way into the streets of Anythink World, where Brighton’s spirit continues to inspire new adventures.
