Learn about and decorate nichos with the Chicano Humanities and Arts Council (CHAC).
In Mexican and South American cultures, small, decorated boxes called “Nichos” are commonly found in homes and public places, displayed on walls, pedestals, or Day of the Dead altars. Made from wood or tin and often painted with bright colors, they provide a stage-like setting for an object or collection of objects that have great significance.
Appropriate for ages 8 to 12. This program will be hosted in English and Spanish.

En las culturas mexicanas y de suramérica, las pequeñas cajas decoradas se llaman "nichos" y se encuentran con frecuencia en hogares y lugares públicos, exhibidos en paredes, pedestales o en los altares del Día de los Muertos. Hechos de madera o latón y pintados con frecuencia en colores brillantes, pueden ofrecer un espacio como escenario para un objeto o colección de objetos que tengan gran significado.
Apropiado para edades de 8 a 12 años. Este programa se llevará a cabo en inglés y español.
