Celebrate National Poetry Month with a generative writing workshop led by Adams County Poet Laureate Aerik Francis.
This playful, hands‑on session invites participants to explore language with curiosity, creativity and a sense of fun.
We’ll begin by “sandboxing” with words—following impulse, intuition and sound to build a shared bank of language. From there, we’ll dig into tools and techniques that bring wordplay to life, with a special focus on homonyms, homophones and puns. We’ll also draw inspiration from writers such as Christina Sharpe, Evelyn Berry, Franny Choi, Emily Pérez and Harryette Mullen before experimenting with our own pieces.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll walk away with new ideas, fresh writing seeds and helpful craft tools to bring into future work.
Appropriate for all ages. This program will be hosted in English. Space is limited to 20 people; registration required.
