Join this virtual book discussion with award-winning author and philosophy professor Dr. Lindsey Stewart as she talks about her book, “The Conjuring of America: Mojos, Mermaids, Medicine, and 400 Years of Black Women’s Magic.” Stewart's book tells the stories of negro mammies of slavery; the voodoo queens and blues women of Reconstruction; and the granny midwives and textile weavers of the Jim Crow era. The discussion will be followed by a brief Q&A.

The fully renovated Anythink Perl Mack serves the North Denver community with a variety of spaces and programs for all ages. This sustainable facility includes a children’s pavilion, teen space, computer lab and program space. The landscaped site also includes a community garden, maintained by local community members in partnership with Denver Urban Gardens.
